Wiz Khalifa‘s “See You Again” (featuring Charlie Puth) had led Songs of the Summer most of the season (for 13 of the chart’s first 15 tracking weeks), but the six-week Hot 100 reign of “Cheerleader” (which ranked at No. “There are so many great songs that deserve the recognition that ‘Cheerleader’ has had. “Every artist from Jamaica wants to thrive in the U.S.,” says OMI (born Omar Samuel Pasley), 29. It’s a fun song.Rick Ross Vows to Get Into 'Best Shape' of His Life to Climb Mount Kilimanjaro in 2024 Impressively he’s had a #1 single each year for the past three years (and should have also had one in 2020 with ’ Whats Poppin’ in my opinion, although unfortunately that song only reached #6). 'Lovin On Me’ is Harlow’s third #1 in NZ. ![]() I think it’ll probably be quite popular here with it’s throwback vibes courtesy of a well-used sample of a lesser known song from the mid-90s, Cadillac Dale’s 'Whatever’ Harlow’s served us up a perfect little slice of hip hop just in time for the southern hemisphere summer. This song is really simple - but I don’t mean that in a bad way. Jack Harlow is back with his latest single ‘Lovin On Me’ which has debuted in the top spot. Tags: jack harlow Lovin On Me - Jack HarlowĪfter the slight chaos of the last few weeks, what with Taylor Swift blowing the charts up and then disappearing again, we have a new #1. Guy has charisma for days, plus that smile and those eyes. Today I learned there is a looooottttt of Jack Harlow fanfic on tumblr! Probably not surprising though, I guess. Looking back to 2013, One Direction were insanely popular but they were kinda a flash in the pan, really only acting as a launching pad for the five band member’s solo careers. Their better known songs surprisingly didn’t reach #1, but I guess that’s sometimes the case for big artists. ![]() With the possible exception of 'Live While We’re Young’, none of them are the 'big’ songs that One Direction are known for. Honestly, looking at the four One Direction singles that reached #1 in NZ is kinda weird. ![]() The song doesn’t even have a music video, so it wasn’t heavily promoted. I’m guessing One Direction fever was responsible for propelling it to the top of the charts. It’s an okay song, but it’s nothing special (the chorus is uh, 'strong’ though). It was One Direction’s third #1 single in NZ which is also the only country where 'Strong’ reached the top spot. This week Harlow is still in the top spot, but if we flashback ten years to 2013 we at least have a #1 we haven’t covered before: One Direction’s 'Strong’. Jack Harlow’s ‘Lovin On Me’ was #1 and if we’d flashed back five years to 2018 we would have been in a situation where we’d already covered the #1 song, as well as the #2, the #3, and the #4. 'Live Your Life’ peaked and #2 and just wasn’t able to overcome the behemoth that was 'Poker Face’. I actually really like this song, although I do find 'Numa Numa’ (which is actually called 'Dragostea Din Tei’ by Moldovan band O-Zone) both irritating and irritatingly catchy. Why T.I.? Why? And also, why are you giving us a full minute-long lecture about the soldiers in Iraq at the start of the music video? Ohhhhhhh, that’s right… this is the song that samples the insanely annoying 'Numa Numa’ for the chorus. We’ll flashback fifteen years to 2008 - we’ve covered to #1, Lady Gaga’s 'Poker Face’ already, so instead we’ll look at the #2 which was T.I.’s 'Live Your Life’ featuring Rihanna.
